Keeping up with the Kashyaps

Image
The title is an influence of the recurring nature of Ks in ms.Kashyap at Kochi in Kerala while the former was just her, kidding. Never mind I missed my much sought after icon, Anna Dello Russo just by a week, I was still looking forward to Kerala. For a north Indian going down south is an adventure in itself especially if months of tedious monotony(read: an arduous cycle of waking up to worldly pursuits & going to sleep) have tired her. So I was back again in this exciting place. The cinema leaves me inquisitive & the food is sumptuous leaving me ravenously appetitive... Inconsistent as it may sound but ships in Kochi go to & fro like it’s nobody’s business! The continuous flow of integrated logistics all through the night, quite apparent from my window had me rapt. I was busy counting ship containers being lifted by cranes as tall as buildings. How something as mechanical could be this beautiful! Then again here was someo...

Me & my faux pas

Image
I’m the kind of person who finds her foot in the puddle more often than not! It’s called waking up on the wrong side of the bed! Days when... --- I, already having run into a news reporter in my bid to speak to a corporate bigwig, I raced to meet this formidable man in my heels later realizing that if my speed per footstep had increased even by a fraction, I would've, much to the entertainment of media and corporate guests, had a head-on collision with HIM! --- I happened to meet my professor after a few years only to realize that having asked him “You’re STILL teaching at xyz classes?” is not the least bit polite. --- I, in my sheer innocence (& a little bit of blindness) usually end up mistaking a random guy as a salesman while in the store! --- in a Q&A round, telling an international singer to do an album with Gareth Gates, just because I was fond of him. Yes I was 11 & I was telling HER, Tata You...

I found my model

Image
I’m picky & I choose the best, I’d like to replace the otherwise self employed for free(& under necessity) model (read: me) with  Anna Dello Russo for my brand Cheyenne'11 . Which is only when I earn in additional no. of zeros. Pray, are they listening up there?! Luxury she lives in drama is her wardrobe leopard, feathers, fur, & gold she has them all ‘re-incarnated Marie Antoinette’ she is! Worked as fashion editor for style bible ‘Vogue’ ADR is one lady who has a wardrobe I can kill for.               ‘ Spunky Superwoman ’ is the word for her! She makes heads involuntarily turn 360 degrees as she walks by, I bet superman can't beat that. Fierce yet lady-like is her appearance! Luxury is burgeoning in her wardrobe. She’s the kinda lady who takes chances , is upbeat and humorous - all that a lady should be! Confession: I want to be ANNA! I sense ADR is as cheeky ...

Cheyenne'11 Earrings

Bulgari inspiration!

Image
My love for jewelry drives to me to take fancy in absurd things, and one of them is the Julianne Moore Bulgari Ad with Cockatoos. The ad which has been banned in Venice due to its inappropriate content has been recreated. This is me doing the- adolecent version of the Bulgari ad in Cheyenne'11 with my cockatoo. The cockatoo shouldn’t irk animal rights activist for I can officially state that its stuffed & belongs to the ‘stuffed bird’ sanctuary in my bedroom. Anyway do you know why i'm luckier than Julianne? My birds neither ask for food nor do they have intestines... Who did it better? Or is Bulgari going to sue me for my cheek?

KOCHI: India's 'MONACO'

Image
I had the tastiest bite of life while holidaying in Kerala! Kochi(Kerala) is much like Monaco, South of France. Surrounded by water, yatchs, a breath-taking view of the harbour, small islands which are frequented by boats... Luxury Hotels, Naval Ships, Cruises, Cottages, Churches, Curio shops, Houseboat-ing in the backwaters, Tea gardens, The Most Unsuspecting Thunder & lightning, The Taj Ambience, Less of people & plenty of space... A quiet dinner with Japanese friends, mind you, they are the most humble folks, they can talk to you about everything under the sun that sound so appropriate even in a formal setting... Kerala has its own film industry! So all the billboards & ads feature (no offense)fat UNCLES with THICK moustaches! The houseboats remind you of the Dal lake, except that here they take you for a 24hr ride in the backwaters, stalling at the banks of rice fields just for meals to be eaten on board. A strongly expressive Kathakali performance by men, bright...

An Ode To 17yrs of Sisterhood

Image
I miss those days, When we laughed until our eyes watered! The dinners when you covered up for me while I shamelessly laughed in front of guests! When we divided our rooms into 2 parts and fought over who owned which side! When we fought over who looked into the mirror the maximum! When we would count who owned more clothes! When you and dad laughed every time I went on a ‘self praising spree’! When you always failed to teach me how to whistle! When we secretly eyed expensive imported whisky and beer bottles in the night! When you would beg me to stop dancing on the bed while you studied your fat books! When we watched ‘C’ Grade hindi movies till 3am and laughed our ass off! 16yrs of my life, I hardly spent a week away from you and now being 17 there isn’t a day when I don’t think of you! It makes me so happy to hear you doing well but equally sad when I come back to 4 walls that are now a witness of the absence of all our laughter and words! Together we are as ...
